Requested Quality of Life update for Heroes

Tl;dr Heroes should function like troops in the laboratory. They should be useable while upgrading so that players don’t need to sit out on as many wars. This also will allow more experimentation with hero-integral attack strategies, such as the QueenCharge. Upgrade costs and timers should be left unchanged as is the requirement of a builder to ensure that this change doesn’t affect the DE economy or more important, lead to a profit loss on Supercell’s end

So I’ve been seeing several reqursts for QoL updates to how the heroes operate in Clash of Clans. One person suggested an XP system while another suggested with get rid of upgrade times entirely. Regardless of how it is complained about, the main gripe about heroes is the amount of time they cannot be used.

Now the problem with both of these ideas; while they would help, there’s are issues. An overhaul, such as the XP system, would take a lot of theorycrafting and effort on the coders to create a balanced rendition of the heroes. And while a lack of upgrade timers would remove inactivity entirely, it would also eliminate the need for books of heroes and reduce the value of Builder Potions; which would reduce the cashflow that Supercell recieves from us.

However, there are three major reason to keep playing; Skill, Progress, and Fun. You get better at the game from trying and mastering new attacks. You make progress for your base by raiding and upgrade. And both of the former are FUN!

So I have a suggestion that I believe compromises all of these factors. It isn’t too complicated and it will not reduce the value of SC payments too much. The solution can be derived from how the Laboratory works.

The Laboratory has you pay x amount of elixir to level up troops. Now imagine how unfun it would be to be locked out of a troop until it’s done. Yet even though that this is in play, Research Potions and Books of Fighting/Spells are still valuable. So am I suggesting that we still be allowee access to heroes while upgrading! Yes!

Think about how many wars you’ve had to sit out. Or how you had to adjust your raid strategies because a hero was upgrading. I personally rarely use Queencharge strats because by the time she’s maxxed, I’m going to the next TH and back on the bench she goes. And this is isn’t fun.

By doing this, SC will not beed to worry about upgrade timers nearly as much. This would also prevent bottle necking at higher levels wherre upgrades can take 7 days or more. Less wars will be missed and more strats can be edperimented with thanks to the heroes being available. And these upgrades are still important because of their abilities. This also makes the BB less of a hassle to grind.

There will be a slight decrease in value from buulder pots and books of heroes, but they will still be important to gather for heroes still need a builder and 10-20 lvls per TH
