Builder Base 2.0 is conceptually great, and theoretically an improvement over its predecessor, such concept and theory appear to hold true for the main gameplay as well, but farming in BB2 is a menial task, a chore moreso than farming ever has been.
Farming in Home Village is also nowhere near as exciting as making an all-out attack, but at least there is gameplay involved which does not involve an any% speedrun to force-quit the video game. Sneaky Goblins are relatively brainless to use, but it still can go wrong, and makes farming into some kind of minigame. There is gameplay involved in farming for home village.
BB1 made it such that you had no choice but to make a good attack if you wanted to farm, and this was actually quite nice, the main flaw being mismatches. While BB2 gives more loot for a better attack and a better defense, it’s not enough of a difference that playing the game becomes more effective time-wise than just spamming Night Witches, reloading, and spamming more Night Witches. The simple truth is that five mediocre attacks will still earn more loot than one great attack. The most efficient way to farm is to stop playing the game.
Why is this such a big deal? A large number of players only ever touch Builder Base to farm for the sixth builder. The same was true of BB1, but this somewhat-required gamemode included gameplay for such players. Farming for the sixth builder does not involve playing the video game. I actually enjoy making serious attacks in the new builder base as well, but I know that as long as I want to farm quickly, I cannot do that. Sure: someday I’ll be maxed out in BB2, or close enough, and at that point I won’t have to worry about farming, and I’ll be able to actually play the video game, but that is a long way away.
BB2 also makes Clan Games pointless and menial: Finish all 5000 points in one sitting by just doing challenges in BB2 by the exact same method: Spam, Force-Quit, Repeat.
BB2 is an interesting gamemode, but its economy and the menial nature of farming in it make it borderline unplayable for anyone who wants to farm quickly. Farming in other gamemodes requires playing the game in some manner, rather than exiting the game as quickly as possible. Making good attacks doesn’t actually reward more loot because those good attacks take five times the length of simply exiting the game at a minimum. BB2 trivializes Clan Games, thus making another part of the game equally menial. These flaws with BB2 make the gamemode, as well as other parts of the game less interesting when they could be much better. I think this could be fixed by giving an additional and sizable loot bonus for 5-6 star attacks scaled to be slightly more than what players would get for exiting a few times on average.
